Yemeni officials said Saudi-led coalition forces recaptured Dhubab, Bab and Hadeid around the Bab el-Mandeb Strait from the Houthis. Houthis later fired missiles at two Saudi airports.
Yemeni officials said on Monday that Saudi-led coalition forces recaptured several areas around the Bab el-Mandeb Strait from the Houthis, naming the towns of Dhubab, Bab and Hadeid, Just Security reported.
The strait links the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden and is a major shipping route. WORLD radio separately reported Yemen's government saying its troops had pushed Houthi fighters out of several towns near the Red Sea.
Wikipedia's current-events portal, citing Al Jazeera, said the Houthis on Tuesday launched missiles against the airports of Najran and Jizan in Saudi Arabia, causing material damage and wounding three people.
Coalition spokesman Turki al-Malki has said air power is supporting the government counteroffensive, Al Jazeera reported in a related piece. Force totals and the durability of the territorial gains were not independently confirmed in the accounts used here.
The fighting sits alongside a separate decision by Turkey and Pakistan to deploy supporting forces in Saudi Arabia under the Mecca pact. That deployment is recorded as its own event.
