The US Coast Guard suspended the search for a Latitude Air Ambulance Gulfstream that left Bermuda for Boston. The operator said the six people aboard are presumed dead after debris was found off Nantucket.

The US Coast Guard has suspended the search for a medical transport jet and the six people who were aboard after it disappeared on a flight from Bermuda toward Boston Logan International Airport. Debris was found off Nantucket, CNN reported, citing the Coast Guard.

The aircraft was a Gulfstream G-100 operated by Canada-based Latitude Air Ambulance. FlightAware data cited by CNN showed the plane flying at 24,000 feet for more than an hour before dropping about 13,000 feet in two minutes. The FAA issued a search alert around 1:20 a.m. after the departure from L.F. Wade International Airport.

Latitude said late Sunday that the four members of its crew, the patient and a family escort aboard the flight it identified as Heartbeat 104 are presumed to have died. The company called that a heartbreaking reality after authorities ended the search-and-rescue phase.

The Boston Globe reported Monday that Bermuda police named passengers Marilyn Lavonne Bean, 66, and her son Sergio Wayne Lottimore, 41. The Coast Guard identified the Canadian crew as Philip Gregory Childerhose, Thomas Henry Farquhar, Sarah Jane Paton and Jolene Beth Weir. It was not stated which passenger was the patient.

Next of kin have been notified, CNN reported. No cause has been established in the accounts reviewed here.
