Moscow, Russia

Moscow said Wednesday's barrage hit military-industrial sites including Fire Point facilities, while Zelensky said 70 missiles and drones killed at least 11 people, five of them in Pryluky.

Russia's defence ministry said on Wednesday that its forces carried out a massive strike on military-industrial facilities in Kyiv and other Ukrainian regions, using land-, sea- and air-launched weapons and drones. Reuters reported the statement from Moscow.

The ministry said targets included sites where the company Fire Point makes and stores Flamingo cruise missiles and medium- and long-range drones, in Kyiv and in the Kyiv, Chernihiv, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava and Kharkiv regions. It also said strikes hit port and ship-repair infrastructure in the Odesa region and vessels it described as being used in the interests of Ukraine's armed forces.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia fired 70 missiles, including ballistic weapons, plus drones, and that one of the key targets was energy infrastructure. He said at least 11 people were killed across the country. Kyiv Post, citing his figures and emergency services, reported five dead and 26 injured, including five children, after a five-storey apartment building was destroyed in Pryluky in the Chernihiv region.

Separate Reuters reporting earlier on Wednesday said two people were killed in Kyiv after a strike set fire to a garage cooperative, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko. Regional officials reported damage to an industrial site in Dnipro, transport infrastructure in Zaporizhzhia and apartment buildings in Kremenchuk.

Zelensky said Russian ballistic missiles remain the greatest challenge and that air-defence packages are a vital necessity. Moscow's account frames the barrage as a strike on military industry; Ukrainian officials describe deaths in residential buildings. Both claims are attributed to the parties that made them.
