STMicroelectronics has reorganised its top team, appointing Remi El-Ouazzane as chief technology officer and Marco Cassis as chief strategic officer from January 2027.
STMicroelectronics announced a new organisation on 29 October, confirming Remi El-Ouazzane as president and head of microcontrollers, digital integrated circuits, radio-frequency and optical communication products, and appointing him chief technology officer with additional leadership of the imaging sensors sub-group. Marco Cassis is confirmed as president and head of analog, power and discrete and MEMS products, and is appointed chief strategic officer while keeping responsibility for company strategy.
In his new technology role, El-Ouazzane will lead research and development for digital CMOS and derivative technologies such as radio-frequency mixed-signal, embedded flash and imaging, plus advanced packaging, test and characterisation, global system research and applications, and system engineering. The company says the change is intended to improve coordination across product development, research and technology and to speed up innovation and time to market. Cassis, as chief strategic officer, will align the company's vision and business objectives with changing market dynamics, identifying growth, partnership and bolt-on acquisition opportunities.
President and chief executive Jean-Marc Chery said the technology and strategy responsibilities are strongly interdependent, and that El-Ouazzane and Cassis, together with the managing board and executive committee, will ensure stronger coordination between strategy and the advanced technology and product roadmaps. The rest of the organisation is unchanged.
The appointments rest on the company's own announcement, which is the authoritative source for its internal organisation, and no independent reporting was needed to establish who holds which role. The announcement gives the effective dates directly: the new organisation takes effect on 1 January 2027, implementation is to be completed by the end of March 2027, and the company will adjust its reportable segments from 1 January 2027.
The reorganisation matters because it puts the company's digital and analog product groups under two executives with explicit company-wide remits at a time when chipmakers are being judged on how fast they can turn research into products. STMicroelectronics describes itself as a company of 49,000 people serving more than 200,000 customers, and the new structure is presented as a way to keep its technology roadmap and its strategy in step.
The next dated step is 1 January 2027, when the new organisation and the new segment reporting take effect, with implementation running to the end of March.
