The Financial Times reported that SpaceX is seeking about $40 billion, led by Apollo, to buy Nvidia chips, split between bank loans and investment-grade debt. The company had not confirmed the package.

SpaceX is seeking to raise about $40 billion to buy Nvidia chips, the Financial Times reported on Tuesday, in an account relayed by Bloomberg. The report cited people familiar with the matter. SpaceX had not confirmed the package in the accounts reviewed.

The Financial Times said the company was seeking about $10 billion in bank loans and $30 billion in investment-grade debt, with Apollo Global Management expected to lead the deal and help sell the debt. The newspaper said the transaction was expected to close in 2027.

Bloomberg described the report as further evidence of demand for computing power among AI developers. It did not add independent confirmation beyond the Financial Times account.

No term sheet, lender list or chip order was published by SpaceX or Apollo on Tuesday. The figures remain those attributed to unnamed sources.

The reported next step is marketing of the debt, with a close eyed for 2027 if the financing proceeds as described.
