The Prime Minister's Office said Narendra Modi inaugurated India Mobile Congress 2026 at Yashobhoomi and cited 5G coverage from more than 550000 base stations.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 10th India Mobile Congress on Thursday at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi, the Press Information Bureau said. He opened by marking Air Force Day. The bureau said he also noted 25 years as a head of government the day before.
The congress is organised by the Department of Telecommunications and the Cellular Operators Association of India and runs through 10 October. Its theme is Scale Without Boundaries.
Modi recalled launching 5G from the same stage in 2022. The bureau said he announced that 5G, from more than 550,000 base stations, had reached every district and that internet speeds had risen tenfold. A pre-event note expected more than 150,000 attendees; that figure was a forecast, not a counted turnout.
The bureau described the telecom sector as moving toward greater self-reliance. The release did not announce a new spectrum auction or a tariff decision.
