Apple said on 30 September that Apple Pay is available in India on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, starting with Axis Bank Visa and Mastercard credit cards, with Mac support still to come.
Apple said in a 30 September 2026 newsroom update that Apple Pay is available in India on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, with Mac support coming later. Customers can add eligible Axis Bank Visa and Mastercard credit cards and pay in stores, apps and on the web without entering a PIN or OTP at checkout, Apple said.
The first partner is Axis Bank. RuPay cards are not included in the initial rollout, TechCrunch reported. Acceptance depends on terminals enabled for the service. Apple listed merchants including Apple Store locations, Blinkit, Chaayos, Croma, Ixigo, Reliance brands, Tata 1mg and Zomato.
Apple said it worked with payment providers including Cashfree, Juspay, Mswipe, Paytm, PayU, Pine Labs, Razorpay and Worldline. Card rewards continue to apply, the company said. Axis Bank chief executive Amitabh Chaudhry called the launch part of a shift in how customers expect to pay.
TechCrunch noted the service enters a market dominated by the state-backed Unified Payments Interface, unlike card-heavy markets where Apple Pay launched earlier. Reuters had previously reported an October target; Apple's own post dates availability to 30 September.
No user or transaction totals were published in the launch note. Further bank partners were not named.
