Anthropic is widening its Cyber Verification Program for vetted security teams.

Anthropic is widening its Cyber Verification Program so vetted security teams can use advanced models for defensive cybersecurity work. The program builds on Project Glasswing, which the company says helped identify more than 129,000 verified software vulnerabilities between April and July.

Anthropic said about 33,000 of those vulnerabilities were rated critical or high severity, while its own scanning found another 5,500 through October. The company says the true number could be higher.

The redesigned program has tiers covering incident response, authorized red-team testing and specialized work on safety-critical systems.

Access is subject to vetting, with Anthropic saying it is working with the U.S. government on the process.

The program illustrates the expanding use of powerful AI models for defensive security as developers also try to control their potential misuse.
