Cavan Sullivan became the youngest scorer in US men's national team history in a 3-0 win over Mexico at State Farm Stadium, with Julian Hall and Malik Tillman also scoring.
The United States men's national team beat Mexico 3-0 on Saturday night at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Julian Hall, Cavan Sullivan and Malik Tillman scored.
Hall, 18, put the United States ahead in the 28th minute after goalkeeper Raul Rangel failed to claim a low cross and the rebound reached the New York striker. It was Hall's third goal in as many international appearances.
Sullivan, a few days after turning 17, became the youngest scorer in US men's national team history with a long-range chip in the 63rd minute after intercepting Rangel's attempted clearance, The Guardian and MLS Soccer reported. Mexico finished with 10 players after Mateo Chavez was sent off in the 68th minute.
Malik Tillman added the third goal in the 85th minute. The United States had already beaten Peru and Chile in this window. MLS Soccer said the next match is against Canada on Tuesday.
The result extended a run of three wins in the international window and put two teenagers on the scoresheet against a regional rival.
