Jacob Fowler made a career-high 46 saves for his sixth straight win, and the Montreal Canadiens defeated the St. Louis Blues 2-0 at Enterprise Center on Tuesday.

Zachary Bolduc scored against his former team at 8:37 of the second period, and Florian Xhekaj scored his first NHL goal at 2:17 of the third, with Mike Matheson recording two assists. Fowler stopped 24 shots in the third period alone, when Montreal was outshot 24-3, and the Blues pulled goaltender Jordan Binnington for an extra attacker with seven minutes remaining but could not solve him.

The shutout was Fowler's second of the season and third in the NHL. His 46 saves were the third most in a shutout in Canadiens history, behind Jacques Plante's 52 in 1955 and Sam Montembeault's 48 in 2024, and set a Canadiens record for saves in a shutout by a rookie since shots on goal were officially tracked in 1955-56. Montreal improved to 7-3-2 with three straight wins and a five-game point streak, while St. Louis fell to 5-6-1 and was shut out for a second straight game.

The score, the save total and the scorers are confirmed by the NHL's own game recap and matched by the Sportsnet and Associated Press account of the game.

Montreal travels to Dallas on Thursday night, while St. Louis hosts Boston on Thursday, giving both teams a quick chance to extend or end their current runs.
