The Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games closed on 4 October. China led the medal table, Japan was second, South Korea third and India fourth with 85 medals.
The Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games closed on Sunday 4 October after a ceremony at Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium. Organisers handed the Games on after a fortnight marked by records and by criticism of crowds and organisation.
AsiaToday reported that China finished with 341 medals, 169 of them gold, its best haul at an overseas Asian Games and a 12th straight time atop the table. Host Japan was second with 269 medals, including 83 gold. South Korea was third with 150 medals and 39 gold.
India finished fourth with 85 medals: 21 gold, 27 silver and 37 bronze. Sportstar said that was short of the 107 medals India won in Hangzhou. Trap shooter Neeru Dhanda, who won two golds and a silver, carried the Indian flag at the closing.
India's men's and women's cricket teams both won gold, and archery produced five Indian gold medals, AsiaToday reported. Boxing golds went to Lovlina Borgohain, Parveen Hooda and Ankush, Sportstar said.
The next host named in the closing coverage was Doha. Final audited medal lists from the Olympic Council of Asia were not separately quoted beyond these published tallies.
