The Premier League champions said Arteta, who led the club to its first title in 22 years last season, has signed until June 2030. Arsenal are second and next play Leeds at home.

Arsenal said on Wednesday that manager Mikel Arteta has signed a new contract until June 2030, Reuters reported. Arteta led the club to its first Premier League title in 22 years last season. He took charge in 2019, when the team was struggling, and has been central to the rebuild since.

Arteta said it was a privilege to commit his future to the club and to keep working with people who want the best for Arsenal. He said the club was unique and that he had a great sense of privilege that the journey would continue. Chief executive Richard Garlick said the club wanted to create a winning era with Arteta.

Reuters said Arsenal finished second three times before winning the title, and reached the Champions League final, where they lost to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties. The club said Arteta's win percentage after 361 games is 62.05 percent, the best among full-time Arsenal managers. Signings cited in the report include Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard, Ben White and David Raya.

Arsenal are second in the league. They return from the international break with a home match against Leeds United on Saturday.

The contract runs to June 2030. No transfer spending figure was attached to the announcement.
