Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave 2026 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on October 27, opening a three-day gathering that runs to October 29.

The conclave brings together scientists, researchers, academics, policymakers, industry leaders, startups and international experts to set research priorities and turn scientific work into practical applications. Sessions cover 12 thematic areas, including artificial intelligence, biotechnology, advanced materials, manufacturing, healthcare, energy, climate science and ocean research. The theme is Creative Minds, Catalyzing Science, Empowering Technologies.

The programme includes a large technology and innovation exhibition of indigenous scientific achievements, with around 150 deep-tech startups exhibiting. A new Global Connect Networking Event brings together more than 300 invited participants from academia, research institutions and industry in India and abroad to build research partnerships and industry-academia collaboration. The conclave's faculty includes three Nobel laureates, Joachim Frank, Richard Roberts and Kostya Novoselov, announced at the curtain-raiser.

The schedule, venue and programme details are given consistently by the Press Information Bureau report of the inauguration, which puts the opening at 5:30 pm on October 27, and by same-day reporting of the event, which matches the October 27 to 29 dates, the 12 themes, the roughly 150 startup stalls and the more than 300 Global Connect participants. The Indian Space Research Organisation will also exhibit at the conclave, and its chairman, V Narayanan, said at a curtain-raiser that the display will include a model of a proposed heavy-lift launch vehicle capable of placing more than 30,000 kilograms into low Earth orbit.

The conclave is the second edition of an event designed to put India's research, startups, industry and policymakers on one platform instead of scattering them across separate events through the year. Its test will be whether the partnerships discussed in New Delhi over the next three days become joint projects, funding and products once the exhibition stalls come down.
