South Korean President Lee Jae Myung welcomed Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in Seoul on Wednesday, Egypt Today reported, citing a social-media post from Lee. Lee said the meeting followed talks in Cairo last year and that he hoped the economies associated with the Han and the Nile would support shared prosperity. Sisi arrived at Seoul Air Base on Tuesday, the first stop on a tour that the Egyptian presidency said would also include Malaysia and Indonesia.
On Wednesday Sisi met executives from 23 Korean companies, the presidential spokesperson said. He repeated an invitation to set up an integrated Korean industrial zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone and described it as a possible production and export hub. Sectors he named included shipbuilding, cars, electronics, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, digital technology, artificial intelligence and data centres, plus agriculture, food processing, textiles and tourism.

The visit was scheduled to run to 9 October, according to a Reuters diary. No deal closing was announced with the roundtable.
