The Constitutional Court dismissed a petition to remove Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, citing the petitioners' lack of standing, while finding no compelling evidence he held a high-school diploma when he ran in 2024.

Indonesia's Constitutional Court late Tuesday dismissed a petition seeking to remove Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka over his educational credentials, Bloomberg reported. The court said the petitioners were not participants in the 2024 presidential election and lacked standing.

The Jakarta Post reported that the justices found no compelling evidence that Gibran, the eldest son of former president Joko Widodo, holds a high-school diploma to support his 2024 vice-presidential candidacy. All nine justices said the finding could not disqualify him, because his status as a candidate ended when he was inaugurated in October 2024 and the matter was no longer an election dispute.

The paper said Gibran attended Orchid Park Secondary School in Singapore, studied at UTS Insearch in Australia and earned a bachelor's degree from the Management Development Institute of Singapore. He ran with President Prabowo Subianto after an earlier Constitutional Court ruling removed an age restriction.

The ruling leaves him in office. The Jakarta Post said it has raised questions about eligibility for future elections and about whether other institutions could consider impeachment. Those are questions reported by the paper, not steps the court ordered.

No resignation or impeachment filing was announced with the judgment.
