India summoned Pakistan's charge d'affaires on Saturday over a 2 October border incident in Punjab in which the BSF killed two men. New Delhi called them infiltrators; Islamabad said they were unarmed civilians.

India's Ministry of External Affairs summoned Pakistan's charge d'affaires on Saturday, 3 October 2026, to protest what New Delhi called continued facilitation of illegal crossings from Pakistan. The Hindu reported Pakistan had earlier summoned India's charge d'affaires in Islamabad.

The Border Security Force said troops shot dead two suspected Pakistani intruders on Friday along the international border in Punjab's Tarn Taran district after warnings to turn back. India Today said officials described the incident in the Ferozepur sector and that three people crossed, with one returning to Pakistan. Tarn Taran police were cited as saying the shooting was around noon.

Pakistan's foreign ministry said the two men were unarmed civilians. India rejected that account as baseless and asked Pakistan to control movement from its side of the border. The two governments have not published a joint finding.

The Hindu's 4 October digest said the diplomats were summoned over the BSF killing of two men the force said had tried to infiltrate through the international border in Tarn Taran. No independent forensic account was available in the reports used here.

Both capitals protested through diplomatic channels on Saturday. No further talks were announced.
