Each side summoned the other’s charge d’affaires after the Border Security Force shot dead two Pakistani men on the International Border in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district. India called them infiltrators; Pakistan called them unarmed civilians.

India and Pakistan summoned each other’s charges d’affaires on Saturday after the Border Security Force said it shot dead two Pakistani men who tried to cross the International Border in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district on Friday. Pakistan’s foreign ministry said the men were unarmed civilians and called the force unprovoked and disproportionate.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs said it summoned Pakistani charge d’affaires Saad Warraich to protest what it called continued facilitation of illegal cross-border infiltration. It rejected Pakistan’s account of the Ferozepur-sector incident and said three people had entered Indian territory and kept moving toward the fence despite warnings. Pakistan had earlier summoned Indian charge d’affaires Satyanjal Pandey.

The Wire, citing The Hindu, identified the dead men as 20-year-old Azmat Shah and 22-year-old Moshin Habibullah. Those names were not repeated in the ministry statement summarised by PTI.

The MEA said Pakistan was asked to investigate infiltration and drug smuggling and to control movement from its side of the border. Pakistan denied that the two men were infiltrators.

No joint investigation or fresh firing was reported in the Sunday morning accounts. The dispute remains a clash of official narratives over a single border shooting.
