Aden security officials said two Houthi missiles targeted the city's international airport early Wednesday and caused no casualties. The Saudi-led coalition said it intercepted a separate missile aimed at Khamis Mushait.

Two missiles launched by Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthis targeted Aden International Airport early on Wednesday and no casualties were reported, the media office of Aden's security department said, according to Reuters. The airport is the main international gateway for parts of Yemen outside Houthi control.

The attack comes after weeks of Houthi advances along the Red Sea coast and a Saudi-backed government counteroffensive that has retaken areas around the Bab al-Mandab Strait with coalition air support, Reuters reported.

Earlier on Wednesday the Saudi-led coalition said it intercepted and destroyed a Houthi ballistic missile launched toward the southern Saudi city of Khamis Mushait, Saudi state television reported. The coalition said the threats originated from Sanaa and the governorates of Saada and Amran.

After that statement, Houthi-affiliated Al Masirah TV said Saudi forces struck an area spanning Ibb and Taiz. Reuters said there was no immediate confirmation from the coalition.

No casualty figure was attached to the Aden airport attack. Independent confirmation of the Al Masirah claim about a Saudi strike in Ibb and Taiz was not included in the Reuters account.
