A Datafolha poll of the October 25 runoff gave Senator Flavio Bolsonaro 49 percent and President Lula 45 percent, inside the margin of error.
Senator Flavio Bolsonaro is slightly ahead of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in a simulated October 25 presidential runoff, a Datafolha poll published on Thursday showed. Bolsonaro, the eldest son of former president Jair Bolsonaro, had 49 percent to Lula's 45 percent.
Reuters said the result is still a technical tie. The margin of error is plus or minus 2 percentage points. Five percent of respondents said they would cast a blank vote, and 1 percent were undecided.
Datafolha surveyed 2,520 people in person on October 6 and 7. It is the first Datafolha poll since Sunday's first round, in which the younger Bolsonaro led Lula. The runoff is set for October 25.
The poll measures stated voting intention in a simulated second round. It does not allocate blank or undecided voters, and it is not a projection of the final result.
