Justice Alexandre de Moraes ordered the arrest of Eduardo Bolsonaro after his conviction became final, and cancelled his Brazilian passports. He is living in the United States.

Brazil's Supreme Federal Court justice Alexandre de Moraes ordered the arrest of Eduardo Bolsonaro after the conviction against him became final, G1 reported on Friday. The warrant was entered in the national arrest database after Moraes's determination on Thursday.

G1 said the First Panel of the court convicted Eduardo Bolsonaro unanimously in June of coercion in the course of a proceeding, for acting to interfere in the trial of his father, former president Jair Bolsonaro. The sentence is four years and two months in a semi-open regime. G1 said the conviction became final on 3 October, and the court secretariat certified that on 5 October.

Al Jazeera, citing the Associated Press, reported that Moraes cancelled Eduardo Bolsonaro's Brazilian passport and told federal police to arrest him if he returns. He has lived in the United States since 2025. Moraes wrote that the defendant cannot benefit from his own wrongdoing by leaving the country to avoid the sentence.

The order lands weeks before a presidential runoff between incumbent Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Eduardo's brother, Flavio Bolsonaro. Al Jazeera reported that Eduardo accompanied Flavio to a May meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump.

The reports describe a warrant and a final conviction, not an arrest. Neither outlet said he had been taken into custody.
