Voters in Bosnia and Herzegovina cast ballots on Sunday for the three-member presidency and the state House of Representatives, alongside entity elections.

Bosnians voted on Sunday for the three members of the state presidency and 42 seats in the House of Representatives. Entity elections were held the same day: 98 seats in the Federation legislature, and in Republika Srpska the entity president and 83 legislative seats.

AFP reported that wartime divides shaped the campaigns. The vote is also being watched for its effect on Bosnia's bid to join the European Union, which depends on state-level institutions that the country's two entities often contest.

Business Recorder noted that voters were choosing the central tripartite presidency and the national parliament. Partial national results were not yet a settled picture in the sources checked late on Sunday.

The presidency's three seats are filled by Bosniak, Croat and Serb members under the post-war constitution. Control of the Republika Srpska presidency is a separate contest with its own effect on relations with Sarajevo.

Official commissions had not published a final turnout or a complete seat count in the reports used here. Those figures will decide whether the election changes the balance that has slowed EU-related laws.
