Le Grand Repas takes place across France on October 8, with local chefs creating seasonal menus for schools, hospitals, workplaces, restaurants and other participating venues.

France’s Le Grand Repas takes place on October 8, bringing a shared focus on local and seasonal food to participating restaurants and institutional kitchens. The official organization lists October 8, 2026 as the next edition.

Each territory builds a menu with a traditional chef and a collective-catering chef, using regional products and seasonal ingredients. The event connects everyday dining with short supply chains, taste education and food-waste reduction.

Lyon’s city government says about 25,000 schoolchildren eating in city canteens will be served a menu created with chef Christian Têtedoie.

The national event also reaches hospitals, care homes, workplaces, restaurants and other venues, making it a broad food-and-culture event rather than a single restaurant promotion.
