Four traders told Reuters that China will resume October exports of gasoline, diesel and jet fuel after withholding approvals over the National Day holiday.
China is set to resume October exports of refined fuel after a halt during the National Day holiday, four traders familiar with the matter told Reuters on Friday. The agency said the move would add supply to tight diesel, gasoline and jet-fuel markets.
Beijing began curtailing fuel exports in March to protect domestic supply after the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran disrupted Middle East crude flows and refining, Reuters reported. Controls were relaxed between July and September, then tightened again by vetting shipments month by month.
China started the holiday on 1 October without approving October exports beyond Hong Kong and Macau, Reuters had reported last week. Two other industry participants told Reuters on Friday that October approvals for the three fuels were about 3.7 million metric tons, compared with a September expectation of slightly more than 4 million tons.
The traders said the resumption should have a modest effect on global supply. No commerce-ministry statement confirming the volume was cited in the report.
The figures are trader and industry accounts carried by Reuters, not an official gazette notice.
