Asian stocks rose on Tuesday after a technology-led rally took the Nasdaq to a record close, Reuters reported from Sydney. Longer-dated US Treasury yields stayed near multi-decade highs.
Japan's Nikkei gained 1.1 percent and Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose 0.7 percent. MSCI's Asia-Pacific index excluding Japan was flat, and South Korean shares fell nearly 1 percent after a holiday. European futures pointed to a higher open.
Brent crude edged 0.6 percent higher to $100.88 a barrel after a 1.9 percent overnight drop. Reuters said Gulf oil flows excluding Iran had risen to more than 81 percent of pre-war levels last month and that the Group of Seven had pledged to boost supplies.
A separate Reuters note said the Nasdaq jumped more than 1 percent on Monday to a record even as long-term Treasury yields moved to levels not seen since 2002. Goldman Sachs estimated consensus forecasts of 27 percent S&P 500 earnings growth for the past quarter, with more than half from companies tied to AI infrastructure spending.
Tuesday's US calendar includes August trade data, a three-year Treasury auction and remarks from New York Fed president John Williams. The third-quarter earnings season starts next week.
