The governing board of the International Energy Agency will hold an informal meeting at 1300 local time on Wednesday to discuss a proposed release of oil and diesel stocks, two European Union diplomats told Reuters.
The diplomats said EU representatives had already discussed the proposed release at a meeting on Wednesday morning. Reuters reported the account from Brussels.
Under pressure from US President Donald Trump, the Group of Seven agreed last week to release 100 million barrels of diesel and crude from emergency reserves and to refrain from energy export restrictions. Industry participants have since been unclear how many barrels Europe and the United States will actually make available.
Wednesday's session is an informal board discussion, not a published allocation. Reuters did not quote an IEA confirmation of the 1300 time.
A decision on volumes and country shares was not included in the diplomats' account.
