Economy minister Katherina Reiche presented the autumn projection in Berlin, lifting this year’s GDP forecast by 0.8 percentage points to 1.3 percent and setting 2027 at 1.1 percent.

The German government on Thursday raised its forecast for economic growth this year to 1.3 percent, 0.8 percentage points above the spring projection. Economy minister Katherina Reiche presented the autumn projection in Berlin. The government expects growth of 1.1 percent in 2027 and 0.6 percent in 2028.

Reiche said the low point was behind Germany and that the economy was growing again, calling it an important signal but only a start. The federal government said growth was being carried mainly by robust exports and public investment in defence and infrastructure. She said private investment would still be needed and that the chancellor would invite investors to a first investment summit on 19 and 20 October.

Euronews, citing AFP, reported the same 1.3 percent figure and said the government expects exports to grow 3.7 percent this year after a 0.9 percent decline in 2025. It said foreign buyers had stockpiled German goods such as steel, fertiliser and aluminium after the Iran war began. Those export and stockpiling details are in the Euronews report, not in the short government summary.

Euronews also reported September inflation at 3.3 percent, the highest in nearly three years, and ministry expectations of 2.7 percent inflation this year and 3.0 percent in 2027. It said real household spending was forecast to rise 0.3 percent this year and 0.5 percent in 2027. The government page stresses that further reforms are needed if growth is to sustain itself.

The projection is a forecast, not a recorded GDP result. No new fiscal package was announced with the presentation.
