ASE Technology Holding reported third-quarter net income of NT$26,996 million, up from NT$10,870 million a year earlier, as packaging and testing revenue surged 51%.

ASE Technology Holding, the world's leading provider of semiconductor assembly and testing services, reported unaudited third-quarter net revenue of NT$244,161 million, up 44.8% from a year earlier and 27.8% from the second quarter. Net income attributable to shareholders reached NT$26,996 million, up from NT$10,870 million in the third quarter of 2025 and NT$21,065 million in the second quarter of 2026, with basic earnings per share of NT$6.13 against NT$2.50 a year earlier.

The assembly, testing and materials business supplied NT$151,485 million of revenue, up 51.0% year on year and 20.1% sequentially, with gross margin rising to 30.6% from 27.3% in the second quarter and operating margin to 20.0% from 15.7%. Electronics manufacturing services contributed NT$93,469 million, up 35.4% year on year and 42.1% sequentially, though its gross margin eased to 8.3% from 8.9%. Across the group, gross margin rose to 22.1% from 21.0% and operating margin to 13.6% from 11.1%.

Equipment capital expenditure in the quarter totalled 2,104 million US dollars, of which 991 million went to packaging and 1,067 million to testing, and the company ended the quarter with 119,346 employees, up from 114,558 at the end of June. Its five largest customers together accounted for about 46% of revenue, and one customer alone for more than 10%.

The figures come from the company's full unaudited third-quarter results release dated 29 October. The revenue total itself was previously disclosed in the company's September and third-quarter revenue announcement earlier in October, so the new information in this release is the profit, margin and segment detail rather than the headline revenue figure, and the story is written on that basis.

The results land in a quarter when chip shares have sold off on doubts about how long heavy artificial intelligence infrastructure spending can be sustained, and ASE's numbers show demand for packaging and testing holding up even as investors question valuations elsewhere in the sector. The concentration in its customer base, with the top five at 46% of revenue, is the counterweight to the growth: a change at one large customer would move the total quickly.

ASE's next scheduled reporting point will be its fourth-quarter results, which will show whether the packaging and testing surge continued into the final months of the year.
