Jay-Z will headline the Apple Music Super Bowl LXI halftime show on February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, the NFL and Roc Nation announced on Monday night.
The announcement was made during ESPN's Monday Night Football broadcast of the Dallas Cowboys against the Philadelphia Eagles, and will be Jay-Z's first appearance as a Super Bowl halftime headliner. Roc Nation, his entertainment company, will executive-produce the show, with Hamish Hamilton returning as director. The game will be broadcast on ABC and ESPN and streamed on Disney+ and the ESPN app. Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, has won 25 Grammy Awards, and his company has produced the halftime show since partnering with the NFL in 2019, overseeing performances by Rihanna, Usher, Kendrick Lamar and Bad Bunny.
The booking closes a long-running irony: for seven years Jay-Z has helped choose the halftime performer while never taking the stage himself. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said that when the league first agreed its partnership with Roc Nation, his one request was that Jay-Z perform one day, whenever the moment felt right to him. Jay-Z said in a statement that going from his 1996 debut album Reasonable Doubt to the Super Bowl stage had been a journey, and that the run continued to be a dream come true.
Roc Nation's own announcement confirms the date, venue, first-time headliner status and production credits, and Reuters reporting corroborates the broadcast details and Goodell's account. No guest performers have been announced, so any names attached to the show beyond Jay-Z himself remain unconfirmed.
The announcement also caps a year built around the 30th anniversary of Reasonable Doubt and the 25th anniversary of The Blueprint, marked by his Jay-Z30 concert series, including sold-out shows at Yankee Stadium and performances in London, Paris and Los Angeles. The next milestone is the show itself, on Valentine's Day 2027, in the stadium where he closed that concert run in October.
