Nana Patekar died on Thursday at 75 after being found unconscious at his home in Goa. A Manipal Hospital doctor told ANI the cause was cardiac arrest.

Nana Patekar, a veteran Indian actor known for stage work and Hindi film, died on Thursday at 75, Reuters reported, citing local media. He was found unconscious at his home in Goa early Thursday and doctors could not revive him, ANI and other outlets reported.

Shekhar Salkar, chief of oncology at Manipal Hospital, where Patekar was brought, told ANI that he died of cardiac arrest and that the trigger was unclear. Reuters attributed that detail to ANI.

Born Vishawanath Patekar and known as Nana, he began in Marathi theatre. Reuters said he acted in arthouse films including Mira Nair's Salaam Bombay! before mainstream Hindi roles. He is survived by his wife, from whom he was separated, and a son.

The reports are an obituary based on agency and hospital comments. They do not describe a public funeral plan.
