President Prabowo Subianto marked Indonesia's first electric-vehicle battery export and opened 11 downstream projects valued at about 10.2 billion dollars at the Weda Bay industrial park.
President Prabowo Subianto launched Indonesia's first export shipment of electric-vehicle batteries on Thursday at the Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park in Central Halmahera, North Maluku, ANTARA reported. He called the shipment proof that the downstreaming policy was on track and said the government would keep pushing it.
The same ceremony covered 11 downstream projects with an investment value ANTARA put at 10.2 billion dollars, or about 180 trillion rupiah. Four projects entered commercial operation: Blue Sparking Energy, REPT Battero Indonesia, Pioneer Aluminium Industries and XCMG Indonesia Manufacturing.
Seven more projects broke ground: Guangqing Nickel Cobalt, Eno Prima Material, Tinci Materials Indonesia, Weda Bay Aluminium, Bintang Karya Aluminium, Flat Solar Energy Indonesia and Guangqing Motor Indonesia. ANTARA said the programme is meant to process nickel and aluminium in Indonesia rather than ship raw ore.
Prabowo said natural resources had to be managed so they supported public welfare. The state news agency carried the remarks from the park and from a Jakarta viewing of the event. It did not name the destination of the battery shipment or give a volume.
The event is an inauguration and a first export, not a published trade statistic for the full year. ANTARA did not report a new export regulation alongside the ceremony.
